5 March, S1/2 - Year 7 (NRich Challenge)*

Driving Question
What sort of maths are we using to solve these puzzles. 
Learning Objectives
Beginning
To read and understand the puzzle. 
Developing
To start using different mathematical skills to interrogate the puzzle. 
Mastering
To be able to demonstrate a solution or partial solution to the puzzle. 

Resources

Group students into mixed teams of four (mixed both in terms of gender and attainment).


Each group should sat together and handed a selection of the Puzzle Sheets. They should not write on these sheets. 


Teachers should read through the questions in advance and familiarise themselves with the puzzles (solutions can be found on the NRich website).

Students should be encourage to work as a team to solve the puzzles and write down their workings and solutions on the paper provided. 


Teachers are to circulate the room and award groups for their problem solving skills, teamwork and their communication of ideas using the Rewards Sheet (sign in one box each time). 


There is a prize for the team that collect the most teacher signature.
